In Other News: 10/05/2013.


  • According to Microsoft's Chief Financial Officer, Tami Reller, we shouldn't expect a version of iTunes optimised for touch to arrive on Windows 8 any time soon. Reller said: "You shouldn't expect an iTunes app on Windows 8 any time soon... iTunes is in high demand. The welcome mat has been laid out. It's not for lack of trying." Which is a shame, but perhaps if Windows tablets make more of an impact on the market Apple will reconsider!

  • HTC's ever green HD2 has now been hacked to run Firefox OS! That device just won't give up having run Android, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone, Windows RT and Windows 8, we're sure there's more too. The Firefox OS port is a work in progress as you can imagine, but if you're interested then follow this post on XDA for all the updates!

  • Nokia's launch of the Lumia 928 also revealed that Windows Phone app production is slowing down a bit. The total currently stands at 145,000 apps, which isn't too shabby at all, but that mean that only 45,000 apps have been produced for the platform in the last eleven months!

  • According to reports on TechEye, Sharp are planning to lay off 5,000 workers over the next couple of years in China and Malaysia as the company sees sales of TV's dwindle.
  • Facebook Home is now available for the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4! The app was updated on Google Play yesterday and it brought some bug fixes along with the added support!

And finally, according to rumours from China Oppo's successor to the Find 5 will be the Find 6 and it will have a crazy spec sheet which will include a Snapdragon 800 processor, an 8 MP front-facing camera, which is paired with a 13MP rear sensor along with 2 GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1080p display, and NFC!
