Sony confirms Xperia Tablet Z plans: Coming soon and priced up!

Now we already know pretty much everything there is to know about Sony's new Xperia Tablet Z, with the company having launched the device a couple of weeks back in January.

Just in case the specifications of the world's thinnest and lightest 10" tablet slipped your mind then there's a Qualcomm 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor, the same one which is in the Droid DNA and the Nexus 4, as well as 2GB RAM, a very healthy 32GB of storage, which is MicroSD expandable, an 8.1 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front cameras, along with NFC, LTE, and Sony's "S-Force" virtual surround sound technology, we're not sure how effective this will be though. The system will arrive running Android 4.1, but there's the promise of Android 4.2 on the way too!

The real crowning glories of this tablet are two specific things though. The first of which is a new high for Sony and that's the 10.1-inch 1,920x1,200 screen with the Mobile Bravia Engine 2! The best Sony's tablets offered before was a 1,280x800p 9.4" display, so this is a considerable step up. The second stand out feature is the size! The Tablet Z comes in a tiny 6.9mm thick form factor, which weights in at a mere 495g. As you would expect from Sony, the whole thing is splash and water resistant.

But, the one thing we didn't know until today is that the device will be coming to the rest of the world too! The price for American buyers will be a minimum of $499 which will secure you the 16GB Xperia Tablet Z, but if you want to step that internal storage up a little more then you can expect to add $100 for the 32GB version. There will also be a 64GB model but there isn't a price for that one available just yet! All of these configurations will be available in Q2!
