The new processors are so good for a number of reasons. The first is that they now have support for 64-bit architectures, as well as 32-bit and the second part is that LG will have access to the next generation of Mali GPUs. These are a key part in the new SoCs: LG's Senior Vice President, Bo-ik Sohn, says:
“The close interaction between the CPU and GPU becomes increasingly important as solutions transition between the 32-bit and 64-bit world... Being able to implement Full Profile GPU Compute in conjunction with ARM big.LITTLE processing configurations will be a key driver to the overall performance and capabilities of our devices.”At this point we're not sure whether LG can go toe-to-toe with the big boys, but it might mean that LG have a sharper eye on the SoC business and the Inquirer speculates that they could possibly have a crack at creating servers based on the new architecture.
