The HTC Desire P is real: Released into Taiwan!

HTC might be going with a single flagship device this year through the HTC One, but that doesn't mean that they aren't going to give the mid and lower range markets something to chew on too! If you're after 4G on a budget, there's already the HTC One SV and naturally there's the Desire C and phones like that if you want something a lot cheaper.

We saw it leaked a little while back, but we can now add the HTC Desire P to that list too. The only thing is that the phone is an exclusive to Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan’s biggest telecommunications company and we're not sure if the phone will leave HTC's homeland.

So what's on the inside? Well the screen you'll be look at is a 4.3-inch 480×800p Super LCD2 touchscreen, which basically puts this in the same ball park as the Samsung Galaxy S2 in terms of resolution, so not bad, but not the best by today's standards. There's also  an 8 MP autofocus camera with LED flash, although there won't be any selfies taken with this phone, because there's no camera on the front. Other than that a 1 GHz dual-core processor, 768 MB of RAM and at the moment there's no official word on the version of Android this is all running, but it's expected to be Android 4.0.4 with Sense 4.1 over the top. The package is rounded out by 4 GB of built-in storage space, a microSD card slot, HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, Beats Audio, and a decent 1,620 mAh battery.

For somewhere in the region of $364, £239 or €285 you could probably do worse than this phone, and it's definitely a good contender to the HTC Desire X, if you were interested in that!

Computex Day 2: Samsung, Toshiba and MSI.

There's been another avalanche of announcements over in Taiwan today and essentially they're all much the same as companies bulk up their line-ups for 2012 and Windows 8 in particular.

There's been a whole host of All in ones on show from all three companies and Toshiba have kept up their Portege and Satellite lines with a new device in each.

But the most interesting device from today is featured below and it's a fine specimen indeed!

MSI Slider S20.

MSI Slider S20 Ultrabook lets you slide into Windows 8. Computex2012, MSI, MSI Slider S20, Tablets, Windows 8 0

MSI is really giving the Ultrabook/tablet hybrid a good go with this device, which has Windows 8 to thank for it's existence.

This is an 11.6-inch Ultrabook which packs an Intel Chief River CULV platform processor, Windows 8, and a huge set of peripherals and ports, which importantly feature USB 3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, and a HDMI port.

Just like Asus and Acer, the S20 can switch between laptop and a tablet, but with this one the keyboard is actually attached, very much like the Asus Eeepad Slider, as opposed to the detachable keyboard of the Transformer series from Asus.
