Archos announce the latest devices in their Elements range: The 80 Xenon!

It was only a couple of days ago that Archos were announcing their beautiful ChefPad for those of you who love to cook, but today they're back with another tablet, this time it's a device which slots into their elements range!
The Archos 80 Xenon is an 8" tablet with a surprisingly large amount going for it. It's 8" display has a 1024x768p resolution and it's an IPS display which should offer good viewing angles. That display will be powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and it'll be running on a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.2Ghz which is paired with an Andreno 203 GPU! On the memory front there's 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which thankfully is microSD expandable and
there's support for cards up to 64GB in size on this device. There's two cameras here; the rear one is 2MP and the front one Archos didn't assign a resolution to, but they did say that it was a 'webcam' so we would assume that it's VGA!

One extra bonus which this tablet has is that there is both WiFi and 3G connectivity options on board, which means that you can plug in a SIM card and get your data on 3G assuming your carrier uses the 2100 MHz band and there's 2G connectivity on 850/950/1800 and 1900 which means you'll get 2G in basically every place you go!

The real highlight here though is that all of this can be yours for very reasonable prices. Depending on where you are this will set you back either €169,99, £159.99 or $199.99, all of which are great prices and it puts the device right into a sweet spot just below the £180 Asus ask for their FonePad which has a lesser processor, but slightly better screen!

Nokia announce the Asha 210 with WhatsApp button built in!

A couple of days back we reported Nokia's latest teaser which showed off a device with a qwerty keyboard and the insanely bright colouring! We've now got confirmation that the device does exist and there it is pictured above in all it's glory!

As you can see the device does indeed have a full physical qwerty keyboard and it's a nice candybar device! This is one of the Asha series of devices, this is the 210, and as you would expect with that range of devices there's Symbian on board, but one of the key features with this exact
phone is the WhatsApp integration. There's actually a dedicated button, which you can see better in
the image embedded to the right and Nokia have seemingly done a deal to make sure that you don't have to pay a subscription to keep this version of WhatsApp going! Nokia have said that in some markets the WhatsApp button will be swapped out for a Facebook button!

The version of Symbian here is the good old trust S40 version, so this is no Windows Phone 8, but for a budget device, aimed at emerging markets, this seems to be a pretty nice little phone. On the inside there's 2G and Wi-Fi capabilities, a rear 2 mega-pixel camera, and a processor which is clocked somewhere below 1Ghz, but Nokia didn't offer exact details.

The device is priced to sell at $72 in the US. People will be able to pick this phone up for $72 for either the single or dual-SIM option. If we're being totally honest at that price it should give you a relatively good experience, but we can't help but feel that the lack of 3G will hamper this device in day to day use, but perhaps Nokia are doing some compression or something, but we doubt it somehow!

What do you guys think? Is thee something which would have made this more compelling at such a low price? Can it compete with the budget Android devices? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

An 8" Windows tablet from Acer leaks as the company is rumoured to bring the B1's bigger brother to market!

There's two parts to this tail really. The first part involves a supposed Windows 8 tablet which is 8" in size and the second involves an Android tablet which was received very positively which might be getting refreshed!

The Windows part of this really got us quite excited! We've been hearing a fair bit lately about how Microsoft have updated the next version of Windows 8 to support smaller screen sizes, but we haven't heard anything concrete yet. That doesn't mean that this couldn't be a leak of one of the first smaller tablets running Windows. The device, which you can see pictured right, is supposedly running on one of Intel's 1.8GHz Atom Z2760 processors which is paired with 2GB of RAM. To
be honest that sounds right about right for a tablet of this nature and if the leak is correct there will be full Windows 8, front and rear cameras, a microSDHC slot, and the pretty sweet keyboard dock which is also pictured. We can't help but think that if this is real that it'd be a great addition to people's university and school bags! For lots more details and pictures head to MiniMachines here!

The second part involves tablets, but this time Digitimes has suggested that Acer could follow up the success of their 7" Android-powered Iconia B1 with a bigger 10.1" brother for the device! The guys suggested that with HP and Lenovo being amongst other companies who are targeting the budget market it makes sense for the Taiwanese firm to strengthen their offering too! If the device is real then we can probably expect to see a MediaTek processor on board and it's rumoured to arrive in August to 'catch up with strong summer demand'.

What do you think of that Windows tablet? Would you like to see a budget 10" slate from Acer? Let us know in the comments below!

Arnova add the 97 G4 to their Android line-up!

There's plenty of tablets out there already which run Android, today we have another one to add to the stable and if Arnova's previous efforts are anything to go by this will give you solid performance on a budget!

Today we've got another one of those devices and this time it's the Arnova 97 G4 and it seems like a pretty good device if the specs are anything to go by. With this device you'll bag yourself a solid 9.7" 1024 x 768p screen, which isn't too shabby in reality, it's not the best, but neither is it the worst. There's also Android 4.1 Jelly Bean running along on a dual-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz and a quad-core Mali 400 GPU. Other than that there's a full GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage which is expandable with cards up to 32GB in size, which makes a relatively solid package.

When you add in HDMI connectivity, a pair of cameras, one on each side and each 2 mega-pixel sensors this isn't a bad device, even if it is on the heavy side at 700g!

For the moment we don't know anything about pricing or availability, but as we said at the start we can't see this tablet selling for more than £200 and perhaps it might be of interest to you! You can find full details at Arnova's page here!

Samsung Galaxy Win announced: a Galaxy S3 made cheaper.

Today Samsung have confirmed the existence of the Galaxy Win. Probably the best way to describe this is the Galaxy S3, but made more of a budget handset.

There's Android Jelly Bean on board, but there's no confirmation whether or not this is 4.1 or 4.2. This will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processor and a 4.7 inch display with a slightly disappointing 800 x 480p WVGA resolution. The cameras have also had a slight downgrade from the Galaxy S3, on the rear there's a 5-megapixel shooter which works together with a VGA front option. The package is rounded out by 8GB of internal storage and a 2,000mAh battery.

The device will be available in either dual or single-sim varieties and you can choose between two different colours which are Ceramic White and Titan Gray. Obviously this is a budget device so we're not sure if this will be offered up in the UK or America, but we expect it to arrive in Asia and possibly South America. There's also no word on pricing or availability yet.

Asus' MeMoPad 7" teased in new YouTube video!

We saw our first sighting of the Asus MeMoPad at the tail end of last year when Asus officially confirmed it! Today the company has shown off a new little YouTube video which shows you some of the little tricks which Asus is hoping you'll be using the device for!

Just in case you need a refresher then this device is basically Asus' answer to the new budget Iconia B1-A71 from Acer! So remember to not expect the earth, but there is; Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a 1GHz VIA WM8950 CPU with a Mali-400 GPU, 8 or 16GB of internal storage, 5GB of Asus WebStorage, 1GB of RAM and a 1MP front-facing camera which can manage 720p video! As well as, the normal range of connections and a 10-point multi-touch LED-backlit display with 1024 x 600 resolution, 140-degree viewing angles, which can also manage 350-nit brightness. The whole thing will run for about 7hours on the 4270mAh battery.

With all of that coming in at an RRP of $149 USD, we think this is very reasonable and it should prove to be a relatively popular tablet! So check you the video and let us know your thoughts in the comments below! Is the Nexus 7 worth the premium over this?
