Oppo said to bring the Ulike 2S to market with a great 'selfie' camera!

Oppo's flagship the Find 5 has recently come to Europe at very reasonable prices and that is a very popular phone in its own right. Oppo though have got grander aims than just one successful phone and that's why we've got this picture of a supposedly updated device which is aimed squarely at women.

The image above is meant to be a picture of the Oppo Ulike 2S which is a device aimed squarely at women. That's an interesting market because you would assume that they don't have quite as big hands as their male counterparts, but Oppo have decided to go for a 5.5" 720p display on this device. There's also meant to be a pair of excellent cameras on this device: the front one is set to be 5MP, while the rear-facer is set to be 8MP. The whole device is said to be powered by a 3000mAh battery and it's meant to have dual-SIM support.

At the moment the rumour mill doesn't know when this will launch or how much it will cost, but we doubt this thing will leave China!

Bloomberg say HTC cancel 12" Windows RT plans, 7" version still good to go!

Bloomberg are reporting today that HTC have scrapped plans for a 12" Windows RT tablet for later this year, wiht the lack of demand for Microsoft's Windows RT being cited as one of the the key reasons and the other being the cost of the device, which would make it too undesirable. It's interesting though that Bloomberg still believe that HTC will be making a smaller 7" Windows tablet  running RT.

The larger of the two tablets was said to be too much of a risk as HTC are still coming to terms with their recent slide in sales and a 12 inch device would be too expensive in terms of components and the cost to customers was said to have been too high to shift the amount HTC would have needed too. Those aren't issues with the 7" tablet which is meant to be available around September or October according to the report.

Bloomberg did say that Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors will be inside the new 7" tablet and other than that we don't really know very much at all, because this is all speculation really. We do find it quite interesting that HTC would opt to make a Windows tablet, given how popular Android tablets are comparatively. Let us know what you think on this rumour and what you'd like to see HTC produce!

CNet say Acer will produce an Android-powered All-In-One computer!

Acer Smart Display DA220HQL.
Well we're not entirely sure what to say on this one, but the guys over at CNet are reporting that they believe there will be a new All-In-One computer from Acer which will run Android on a brand new Intel Haswell Core-i5 4430 clocked at 3GHz.

Obviously we've been hearing a lot about how unpopular Windows 8 has been, despite the update to WIndows 8.1 being announced yesterday, it's still not known whether this will help turn the platform around. So Acer are planning on ditching Microsoft's OS all together and going with Android instead according to CNet. This is something which Acer have tried before through their 21.5-inch ARM-powered Smart Display DA220HQL, which you can see above, but we've not seen Android running on anything as powerful as Intel's i5 processor before!

If CNet are correct then the new All-In-One will be a lot cheaper than its contemporaries because Acer won't have to pay the licensing fee for Windows 8 and theoretically this could see the device land with that i5 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM cost somewhere in the region of $400.

Those specs seem somewhat undercooked and we'd be really surprised if that was right, but it'd be interesting to see if Android can really make the step up to a full operating system!

Google give their biggest hint yet that Android 4.3 is on the way in their new GMail ad!

The announcement that there was a new GMail with a tabbed interface was only made a couple of hours ago and we covered in briefly here, but the super attentive eyes of Marques Brownlee have spotted that there is more in this little advert than first meets the eye!

On a post over his G+ page Brownlee pointed out that the clock time used in various adverts in the past has pointed us to the version of Android which is running on the handsets in the video and today's GMail demo shows us something quite interesting. As you can see in the screenshot above the time comes up as 4:30 in the top right of the devices screen and Brownlee says that in:
"Android 2.3 Gingerbread videos use 2:30 as the time.
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich videos use 4:00 as the time.
Android 4.1 Jellybean videos use 4:10 as the time.
Android 4.2 Jellybean videos use 4:20 as the time."
So does this all mean that Android 4.3 is nearly upon us? Let us know if you think it's nearly here in the comments below! For those of you who want proof that the theory is true then here is a teaser of the Nexus 4 and as you can see the time is indeed 4:20, click to enlarge the picture!

Are these the specs for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini?

By now it's pretty clear that Samsung will be showing off a fair few phones at their event on the 20th of June in London. If the rumours are correct then one of those phones will be the Galaxy S4 Mini and it'll undoubtedly be a big seller because of the relatively low price and the obvious naming similarity to the bigger and considerably more powerful bigger brother.

Now we've already seen 'leaks' which show what the phone could look like and today there's a new rumour that this device will be relatively powerful too. From the benchmarks above you can see that there is meant to be a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, an 8 mega-pixel rear camera and a 2.1 mega-pixel front option, which is said to be able to manage 1080p video

There's also meant to be that qHD 960 x 540 p screen which will hopefully do Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean some justice. Hopefully we'll have a real confirmation for the device on June the 20th which isn't too long to wait really!

Pocket-Lint believe HTC will release a blue HTC One!

The guys at Pocket-Lint have today posted a mock-up of a previously unseen blue version of the HTC One. We already know the company are working on a red version, which we've covered here, but we've never heard anything about the lovely blue hue which you can see in the image above!

Pocket-Lint have said that the device is set to arrive in the coming months and it will have a nice blue hue, it's worth saying though that the image above from the guys isn't an actual picture of the device, instead it's just a mock-up which looks surprisingly convincing, but we would personally prefer a nice dark blue coating instead!

The guys didn't know when the blue one will be available, but we would expect it to arrive relatively soon given that we're coming up to the phone being a quarter of the way through its first year of sales! Would you like a blue HTC One? Let us know in the comments below!

Is this the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0?

Samsung have already announced the 7" Galaxy Tab 3 and that device was rather uninspiring to say the least, but if we know Samsung they like to carpet bomb the market and hope that something hits a sweet spot. That's why we have seen this pop up on our Twitter feed today.

The device pictured above is what SamMobile believe is the 8" variant of the Galaxy Tab 3! We prefer saying it that way because Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 sounds a little silly! According to the guys this tablet is meant to arrive at the end of June and is set to feature slightly improved specs compared to its 7" sister!

There's meant to be Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean in the driving seat, with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and support for MicroSD expansion up to 64GB under the hood. The outside of the device is rumoured to have a pair of cameras which SamMobile says are likely to be 1.3MP on the front and 5MP on the back which will offer up solid pictures for you to look through on the 8" WXGA, that's 1280 x 800p, TFT display.

Aside from that the rumour runs that there's a nice big 4450mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, WiFi and 3G connectivity options available and all of this is set to measure in at 209.3 x 122.2 x 6.95mm, the last of which is meant to be how thin this device is and that would be really quite impressive if correct!

SamMobile wanted to point out that their spec list isn't necessarily final, but given how specific they're being they're either very confident that this intel is right or they're remarkably good at plucking numbers out of the air!

The HTC First: Discontinued already?

That image to the right is a little out of date. The HTC First which went on sale almost a month ago to the day has already had its price slashed to 99 cents on a contract with AT&T, but it seems as though that hasn't really done the trick an set the sales numbers alight. Instead, it's being reported by BGR that the 'Facebook phone' will stop being produced and BGR has 'confirmed' that the phone will not be on sale for much longer.

According to the report the phone has been selling unbelievably badly and as a result AT&T have chosen to discontinue the phone! At the moment there's no word on exact numbers of unsold devices, but BGR's sources report that less than 15,000 of the phones have shipped since the phone went on sale over a month ago!

The sales are supposedly not helped by the lack of help from AT&T sales reps who supposedly aren't too taken with either the phone or the software! Instead, they're busy recommending Apple's iPhone and the Galaxy S4 from Samsung.

Apparently HTC have paid AT&T for display space in their stores and the phone will be offered until the display contract runs out which we don't have any details on at the moment. Naturally spokespeople at AT&T and HTC declined to comment on the 'speculation'.

Are you surprised to hear rumours like this or is this what you expected? Let us know in the comments below!

In Other News: 10/05/2013.

  • According to Microsoft's Chief Financial Officer, Tami Reller, we shouldn't expect a version of iTunes optimised for touch to arrive on Windows 8 any time soon. Reller said: "You shouldn't expect an iTunes app on Windows 8 any time soon... iTunes is in high demand. The welcome mat has been laid out. It's not for lack of trying." Which is a shame, but perhaps if Windows tablets make more of an impact on the market Apple will reconsider!

  • HTC's ever green HD2 has now been hacked to run Firefox OS! That device just won't give up having run Android, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone, Windows RT and Windows 8, we're sure there's more too. The Firefox OS port is a work in progress as you can imagine, but if you're interested then follow this post on XDA for all the updates!

  • Nokia's launch of the Lumia 928 also revealed that Windows Phone app production is slowing down a bit. The total currently stands at 145,000 apps, which isn't too shabby at all, but that mean that only 45,000 apps have been produced for the platform in the last eleven months!

  • According to reports on TechEye, Sharp are planning to lay off 5,000 workers over the next couple of years in China and Malaysia as the company sees sales of TV's dwindle.
  • Facebook Home is now available for the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4! The app was updated on Google Play yesterday and it brought some bug fixes along with the added support!

And finally, according to rumours from China Oppo's successor to the Find 5 will be the Find 6 and it will have a crazy spec sheet which will include a Snapdragon 800 processor, an 8 MP front-facing camera, which is paired with a 13MP rear sensor along with 2 GB of RAM, a 5-inch 1080p display, and NFC!

Huawei's stunning P6 pops up in black and with a stunning brush metal finish!

Wow, wow, wow! If the guys over at Engadget are right on this one then the image you see above is the Huawei Ascend P6! And it looks absolutely stunning in our opinion!

The device's full title is the P6-UO6 and it is pegged to come in at a mere 6.18mm in thickness. We've actually touched on this device before when it popped up in the Chinese governments approval filings, but we haven't seen it in the finished form before.

Aside from how it looks we don't actually know that much about the phone at all. There's meant to be a dual-SIM version and it'll have the normal connections which you'd expect, but that's about it.

According to the guys over at Engadget there's a Huawei launch event being arranged for London on the 18th of June, which Richard Yu, the company's chairman will be attending, so it's possible we will hear some more details there! Otherwise we can just marvel at how the phone look in black and in this brushed metal colour in the pictures below!

Are HTC working on two Windows-based tablets?

HTC might be starting to turn their fortunes around slightly in the last few months, but there's still a long way to go for them to return to a good level of profitability and financial security which they this time last year. Smartphones, especially the HTC One, will be a key part of that turn around, but according to the latest rumours tablets will have their part to play too.

The guys over at PhoneArena, have received a 'tip' which suggests the Taiwanese company are working on a pair of tablets, but as always this is a rumour so take it with a pinch of salt! If the rumours are to be believed though HTC are busy working on tablets which won't be running Android, but instead they'll have Microsoft's less than popular Windows RT. PhoneArena covered their bases on this rumour though, they suggested that the actual OS is 'anyone's guess' and that it could be full Windows 8, Windows RT or a combination of the two which it's previously been rumoured that Microsoft would do with the Blue release of Windows 8.

If we stop to briefly look at the two devices, then we're told to expect the HTC R7 and the R12. The R7 is supposedly one of the new small band of Windows tablets and is tipped to land with a Full 1080p HD display which will be 7" and there's set to be one of those beastly 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800's under the hood, as well as 2GB of RAM. The rumours also say that there will be 16GB of built in memory which you can expand via a MicroSD card which you can fill up with pictures from the 13MP camera. The small device is rumoured to forgo HDMI, NFC and DLNA outputs in favour of LTE and or HSPA+ connectivity, Bluetooth 4 and a GPS connection of some sort.

The big brother which is rumoured to go by the R12 codename is supposedly the same internally, but there will be additional connection ports available and the screen is meant to be a 12" panel with a fantastic 2048×1536 pixel resolution!

At the moment that's all we know, in our minds it's a shame that HTC aren't going to give the Android tablet game another crack, but then again, we don't know for sure that they won't. The rumour concludes by saying that these devices will be released in October of this year, which fits with the sort of timeframe which we're expected Windows to get this big update in.

Can HTC go toe to toe with new Surface tablets or Acer's rumoured Iconia W3, if that's what it ends up being called? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

EVLeaks post a picture of an unknown LG phone: Optimus G2 anyone?

The guys and or girls over at EVLeaks are busy at the moment and it seems that with their latest leak they've decided to promote their Facebook page a little. The device which they used is the one pictured above which the guys speculated is the LG Optimus G2.

Obviously there's nothing more to go along with this device except for what you see on the screen, but according to the comments on the post some people have been busy doing some maths and they think that the screen checks out at 5.5", which puts it in the same ballpark as the Optimus G Pro, but it seems a little on the large size for average consumers and remember that's only a guess.

One other interesting point is that seemingly new speaker grill. We're not sure whether or not we're fans of that at the moment, it looks strangely like a HDMI port to out eyes! Similarly there appears to be a lack of physical buttons, which is great, but again we're not sure if there are touch buttons on the left and right of the LG logo, much like HTC opted for with their HTC One. The rumours say that this will be the first phone with the Snapdragon 800 processor inside from Qualcomm, but again there's no way to check this out until we get some more details from LG or the tipsters!

What do you think? Does this look right to you? Do you like the design? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

The HTC M4 leaks: If this is real Samsung might have to rethink their S4 Mini plans!

HTC might have been in dire straights at the end of last year and the start of this, but with their new flagship the One getting rave reviews left right and centre it's safe to say that the company should have sturdied the ship lately. With that in mind it seems like the company are keen to capitalise on the success of the HTC One with something which is a little bit cheaper, but in many ways similar!

That's seemingly why we have this device, the M4. The guys over at EVLeaks have struck again and the device you see above is to all intents and purposes the little brother to the HTC One. The best way to think of it is as the Galaxy S3 Mini to the Galaxy S3, but without the huge gulf in specs which those devices have!

If the rumours are right this device will have a great 4.3-inch 720p display and a dual-core processor, which is currently unspecified. These will be backed up by 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM and HTC's UltraPixel camera technology. As you can see in some regards this is a step down from the HTC One and as such it should be less battery intensive, we certainly hope so because HTC has chosen a 1700mAh battery which is said to be non-removable, something which we're still not fans of especially given the small cell capacity here.

According to PhoneArena the device will be able in the last few weeks of May or during June and it is set to arrive with Android 4.2 at the helm and LTE connectivity too!

For those who can't quite afford the premium on the HTC One this device could be a fantastic alternative. If HTC keeps the aluminium casing and they manage to keep this affordable then Samsung will have problems shifting a Galaxy S4 Mini if it lands in the same price bracket! If this is right then the summer is shaping up to offer a great range of phones in the mid-tier!

Archos rumoured to release four phones: We've heard about three of them before!

We've actually heard rumours about a set of phones from Archos before. We saw this leak just before MWC earlier in the year and we expect to see the phones at the show. Seeing as the phones didn't turn up there the devices slipped into the backs of our minds, until now! It seems that the guys over at Lilliputing have managed to get their hands on a screenshot which seemingly proves the existence of a budget Android handset from the French company which you can see pictured below!
As you can see the image doesn't give away too much information aside from the fact that the device will cost 82 euros to buy and that it has 4GB of internal storage.

However, shortly after this original image was spotted there was the following chart which seemingly shows off four new smartphones spotted by the guys at MiniMachines.

If we cross reference what we see in that chart with what we heard in the rumour a couple of months ago we see that things are surprisingly similar! Our post earlier in the year said that there would be:
"An Archos Carbon 35 [with] a 480 x 320p screen, single core processor and 512MB of RAM and a shockingly small 512MB of storage. Obviously this is a budget device and it has a rumoured price tag of 90 Euros."
That is remarkably close to the what today's rumours seem to suggest too!

The same thing can be said about the Archos Platinum 48, which we reported would arrive with:
"A 4.8 inch, 1280 x 800p screen rumoured to be paired with a 1.7 GHz Mediatek MT6589 quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 processor. The supposed 249 Euro price tag reflects the bump in quality of the components."
Now this one isn't quite as close, but the screen size and resolution seem to be close to the mark as does the quad-core Mediatek processor!

The final device which we have previously heard about was the Archos Titanium 52 and previous it was set to have a:
"800 x 480p screen, which we really hope[d] [was]n't true because that will not be very nice to look at! Other than that the rumour mill hasn't offered up too much other than a 1.2 GHz dual core processor."
Again both of those seem to agree with the device in the chart above.

The 'Titanium 4' is the only one which we haven't heard anything about before, but it definitely seems to have a place as a mid-range phone in this line-up.

Obviously this is all still rumour at this point, but now we've heard about these devices on multiple occasions, it's getting safer to assume that these will be on shelves at some point this calender year!
