The news in brief:

  • RIM's wholesale job cuts have started in earnest and all in all between 2000 and 6000 jobs are expected to go within the company.
  • Samsung has secured a win against Apple in The Hague, with the Dutch court ruling that older iPhones and iPads contravene a 3G patent held by the Korean company. This won't, however spark a sales ban but it will mean that Apple will have to pay a chunk of money as an apology, that's what you get for starting things Apple!
  • iPhone users get an official Google Offers app.
  • Google maps UK has added support for waterways as navigable routes, cue some funky jet skiing directions!
