Android Market becomes Google Play.
This is news to everyone; earlier in the week the internet was alive with speculation that Google were planning to announce a new nexus tablet called the Play, but alas that was very wrong.
Alas instead the Android Market is no more and instead we will all soon have to download our apps from Google Play. The update will roll out to all devices soon and for those of you with a Nexus device you may very well have it already.
My personal opinion on this is undecided I'm genuinely not sure if this was a good move on Google's part or not, because at the moment I don't think Google Play really expresses the fact that the 'market' is actually a store. But, I do understand that Google sells books and movies and the 'market' is very diverse now, but maybe a name like Google On would be better because the word play to me infers specifically movies and games and most certainly excludes productivity and books.
Maybe I'm resistant to change and Google has made a great call, but at the moment I can't see this being a good rebranding.
