Archos announce the Platinum series of tablets.

Archos have today announced their latest set of tablets in their Elements range. This time around the trio of tablets are the 'Platinum' range and they all promise 'super high resolution IPS screen[s] combined with the performance of a quad-core CPU'.

The whole line feature aluminium casing and they have 'the best high definition IPS displays', as well as quad-core processors and 8-core GPUs, 2GB of RAM, mini-HDMI ports, MicroSD expansion options and they will all arrive with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board!

The trio covers most options that you would want; there are 8, 9.7 and 11.6" options, so there should be one to suit your needs in there! Interestingly though, there's a big mix of screen resolutions, despite all of them being IPS panels.

The ARCHOS 80 Platinum, the 8” option, has a resolution of 1024x768p and Archos is keen to hold this one up as a competitor to the Kindle Fire HD 8.9. They argued that 'it is almost twice as fast, has double the RAM and has a back camera for a fraction of the cost'. The ARCHOS 97 Platinum HD is where things start to get exciting in the screen department though. On board there's another Retina equalling 2048x1536p resolution IPS screen, just like we saw in its dual-core Titanium sister! Last but not least there's the ARCHOS 116 Platinum, it's rocking an 11.6" 1920x1080p resolution display which is the same as Microsoft's new Surface Pro!

All three of these tablets will be available soon-ish and the full price and availability timescales are embedded below as is the press release! For any more information check out the whole range on Archos' website here!
