Asus announce the Transformer Book Trio: Windows and Android in a dockable tablet!

It seems Asus had one final trick up their sleeve which they weren't wanting to give anything away about. This is the device, which they had been teasing with those 'We Transform' teasers which you might have seen in the run up to today's event. It turns out it has the very catchy 'Transformer Book Trio' name, but aside from that it's a convertible tablet which runs both Windows and Android!

The device comes with an 11.6-inch 1080p display on the tablet itself and there's a dedicated key which will let you switch between the OS' whenever you fancy a change of scenery! There's a PC dock, tablet keyboard dock and the tablet itself, hence the Trio name.

Obviously this is designed to be a high-end device and as such there's a great fourth-generation Intel Core i7-4500U processor to drive Windows 8, but when you switch onto Android you'll be making the most of a brand new dual-core 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 which will make Android Jelly Bean fly! Interestingly the two OS' mean that there's two separate batteries: there's a 33Wh cell as well as a 19Wh one, we're not sure how this will work or whether you will have to be connected to the keyboard dock to use Windows, but this will be cleared up in the coming days!

Storage shouldn't be an issue on this device with an ample 1TB HDD inside the dock, as well as 64GB of internal storage inside the tablet itself.

With regards to pricing and availability Asus have said they don't want to say anything about that just yet, but we do know that the device will be coming to market in Q3! When we know a bit more about this device we will let you know!
